I use chemistry to make new regants and methods for tackling problems in biology.
During my postdoctoral research with Luke Lavis at HHMI–Janelia Research Campus, I developed advanced fluorescent tools for cell biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and imaging. My PhD work with Scott Laughlin explored new approaches to bioorthogonal labeling. Earlier, working with Jayanta Haldar, I contributed to the development of novel antimicrobial compounds.
Beyond research, I try to foster an inclusive academic environment through effective mentoring, promoting diversity, and helping students explore diverse career paths. I also try to make science and my research more accessible and engaging to the broader public.
